M. Nasuhi

1.     INTRODUCTION

As the era progressed, early marriages became more common among the lower classes of society, especially in villages. "Based on Law Number 16 of 2019 article 1 concerning early marriage, the minimum age permitted for marriage is if both men and women have reached the age of 19 years." This means that if one of the bride and groom or even the bride and groom themselves have not reached this age limit, then the marriage is classified as an early marriage or underage marriage. As for article 6 paragraph 2 of Law Number 1 of 1974, children who have not yet reached the age of 21 must marry with permission from their parents, but after the child is over 21 years old they may marry without parental permission (Article 6 paragraph 2 of Law Number 1/1974).

One of the things that causes the phenomenon of early marriage to rise in Wakan Village is due to the lack of participation and role of the Village government in dealing with cases of early marriage that occur in Wakan Village. The government is less firm in dealing with early marriage and this is also influenced by the lack of community participation and knowledge about the negative impacts that early marriage will have. This can be seen from the many cases of early marriage that occur every year in Wakan Village without any prevention or outreach from the Village Government about the negative impacts of early marriage. Based on the problems above, researchers are interested in conducting research on "The Impact of Early Marriage on Social Life in Wakan Village, Jerowaru District, East Lombok Regency"

The Impact of Early Marriage on the Social Life of the Wakan Village, Jerowaru District, East Lombok Regency

Whatever we do will definitely have an impact or consequence of what we do or do, this also applies to marriage at an early age, especially what happens in Wakan Village. Regarding the impacts caused by marriage at an early age, as a result of interviews and observations conducted by researchers, the researchers obtained information that the impacts arising from marriage at an early age are:

Disorders of the Reproductive Organs (Especially for Women) For couples who get married at an early age, biologically, of course all their organs are not yet fully mature, especially the reproductive organs. The reproductive organs are very vital organs that must be cared for properly. because if there is interference with these organs it will certainly have an impact on them themselves. However, the case is different for those who marry early (especially women), even though they know that their age and biological condition are relatively immature, they still get married without thinking about the impact that the marriage will have.

2.   Psychological Impact

Prolonged Trauma and Difficulty Accepting Changes That Occur After Childbirth Apart from the biological impact, the impact caused by early marriage also takes the form of a psychological impact. Where the perpetrators of early marriage experience fear and even be followed by a very long trauma. This trauma is often felt by women after giving birth.

3.   Social Impact

a.     Increasing School Dropout Rates

Maintaining a relationship is very difficult for every couple, especially for those who are married.

c.     Early Divorce Occurs

A person's misunderstanding of the meaning of marriage results in frequent divorce. Divorce is something that often happens in a marriage.

d.     Domestic Violence (KDRT) Occurs

Everyone definitely wants the family they build to always be in a harmonious condition (not experiencing problems). Likewise, those who marry early, they also hope that the family they build can survive without any disturbance, both from outside and from within (from themselves).
